Forum Updates (Mar 6th, 2012)

Hi everyone...
Decided to start a new Updates thread since the other list was getting too long. You can see the history of changes here: http://thottbot-legends.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=9. New items will be listed at the top and older items listed at the bottom.

So a few things has changed and added in the last two weeks:

1) New forum member groups

This is to add some form of recognition and distinction with various members since the old Thottbot.com forum. They are as follows:

TB Captain: These are the Guild Moderators as I would like to call them.
TB Legend: They are the original Thottbot.com members who came to Nord to help form the guild.
TB Veteran: They are the non-original Thottbot.com guild elders who has attained the highest rank available.
TB Member: They are made up of Champions, Sergeants, Sentries and Initiates from the guild.
TB Kindred: A special group was created to give recognition to the original Thottbot.com member who is not a part of the guild.

2) Forum users

The user list has been cleaned up and spammer bots were pruned.

3) Added "HotLink" and modified "Strike" tags for the post editor.

Hotlink: The regular URL tag loads a link in the same page as the post. The Hotlink tag loads a link in a new page.
Strike: This used to be labeled "S". It has been renamed. This tag basically puts a line through your text like THIS.

You may also notice the HR tag since months ago. This is the "Horizontal Ruler" which adds a line in the post. This can be useful for long text guides to segregate areas.

4) A different theme

I mentioned this awhile ago: there are two themes you can choose from. The default white version or the Cataclysm dark version. Go take a look for yourself in your Profile > Board Preferences under "My board style". I will change the "Home of Team TB" soon™.

5) In the near future

I will be adding a brown and white bearded winking emoticon and a white bearded smiling emoticon. Any further suggestions, don't hesitate to say them here.

No offence to beards, a few of my family members have pretty awesome beards, but in my opinion a bearded-winking emoticon has to be amongst the creepiest emoticons ever made >.O

Sadly I cannot completely disagree with that Hogger.

GS, no to be a nag, but the Legend and Captain colors are very very similar, any chance of altering one of them? Thanks

Okay, just changed it. Originally, the forum admin is deep red and the Super Moderators are orange. I changed it so the admin is dark gray, the Super Mods are pink, the Captains red and the Legends lighter orange.

That is hilarious! I think I'm going to get a beard at the costume shop and use that to entice Amber...

I tried to grow a beard once in a week off I had, I got 3 comments saying how much I looked like a hobo, I've been clean shaven every day since - I just can't pull that look off >.O

I don't have a full beard, just a goatee with scruff on the side because I hate shaving. I normally just trim. I've shaved my goatee once in the past 14 years.

Good stuff! Now I have Shadow and Mad sharing the same fuzzy beard and the former Hogger the Hobo.

Hmmm... A goatee eh? I'll probably make one like that too, but then other members may want their own smilies too. I might have to make a 'busty emoticon' for Amber and a 'spin the rifle' emoticon for Mel.

GS, the buttons for submitting, previewing and saving profile signatures are on the right hand side of the page when editing your signature and look very odd. You might want to take a look at that.

PS Are you in Germany now? Haven't seen you or Amber in game in awhile.

Not yet. Will be flying to Toronto Friday morning, then to Frankfurt sometime in the afternoon. Then Kiel on Sunday via high speed train.

I will look into those buttons when I come back. The next two days is a frantic work period for my business partners to squeeze every ounce of work out of me before I depart Friday morning.
